New cells are produced by mitotic division of the pre- existing cells.

(ii) Phase of enlargement: The newly formed cells in formative phase undergoes enlargement.

Cell wall of enlarging cell shows plastic extension through enzymatic loosing or microfilament and deposition of new material called intussusception.

(iii) Phase of differentiation: The enlarged cells develop into special or particular type of cells by undergoing structural and physiological differentiation.
