Question: If 30 ml of $ H_2 $ and 20 ml of $ O_2 $ reacts to form water, what is left at the end of the reaction

[AFMC 2005]

Options:

A) 10ml of $ H_2 $

B) 5ml of $ H_2 $

C) 10ml of $ O_2 $

D) 5ml of $ O_2 $

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: D

Solution:

$ H_2+\frac{1}{2}O_2\to H_2O $ 1 mole $ \frac{1}{2} $ mole 1 mole 1 volume $ \frac{1}{2} $ volume 1ml $ H_2 $ reacts with $ \frac{1}{2} $ ml $ O_2 $ 30ml of $ H_2 $ reacts with $ =\frac{1}{2}\times 30=15ml $

$ O_2 $ (20-15) = 5ml of $ O_2 $ will left at the end of the reaction.
