Equilibrium Question 771

Question: What is the pH of a $ {10^{-4}}M,O{H^{-}} $ solution at 330K, if $ K_{w} $ at 330K is $ {10^{-13.6}} $ -

Options:

A) 4

B) 9.0

C) 10

D) 9.6

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: D

Solution:

Given at 330 K $ K_{w}={10^{-13.6}} $ i.e. $ pK_{w}=pH+pOH $

$ \therefore pOH=-log[ O{H^{-}} ] $

$ 13.6=pH+pOH $

$ pOH=-log{10^{-4}} $

$ pOH=4 $

$ \therefore pH=13.6-4=9.6 $
