Solution:

In sodium chloride, each $ N{{a}^{+}} $ ion is surrounded by six $ C{{l}^{-}} $ ions and each $ C{{l}^{-}} $ ion is surrounded by six $ N{{a}^{+}} $ ions. Thus, both the ions have coordination number six.
