Solutions Question 318

Question: After adding a solute freezing point of solution decreases to - 0.186. Calculate $ \Delta T_{b} $ if $ K_{f}=1.86 $ and $ K_{b}=0.521 $ . [Orissa JEE 2002, 04; MP PET/PMT 1998; AIEEE 2000]

Options:

A) 0.521

B) 0.0521

C) 1.86

D) 0.0186

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: B

Solution:

$ \Delta T_{f}=K_{f}\times m $
Þ $ 0.186=1.86\times m $ So $ m=0.1 $ , Put the value of $ m $ in $ \Delta T_{b}=K_{b}\times m $

$ \Delta T_{b}=0.521\times (0.1)=0.0521 $
