Solution:

[a] Let x be the marks obtained by student in the annual examination. Then, $ \frac{62+48+x}{3}\ge 60 $ or $ 110+x\ge 180 $ or $ x\ge 70 $ Thus, the student must obtain a minimum of 70 marks to get an average of at least 60 marks.
