He will fail in exam in two cases:
Case (i) He studied and failed, probability of this case is (1/3) (1/2) =1/6.
Case (ii) He didn’t studied and failed, probability of this case is (2/3) (3/4) = ½. So total probability is $ 1/6+1/2=4/6=2/3 $ Then required probability $ =(1/2)(2/3)=3/4. $
