Solution:

[a] Let the line make intercept ?a? on x-axis. Then it makes intercept ?2a? on y-axis. Therefore, the equation of the line is given by $ \frac{x}{a}+\frac{y}{2a}=1 $ it passes through (1, 2), so, we have $ \frac{1}{a}+\frac{2}{2a}=1 $ or $ a=2 $ Therefore, the required equation of the line is given by $ \frac{x}{2}+\frac{y}{4}=1 $ or $ 2x+y=4 $
