Kinematics Question 541

Question: A car is moving with speed 30 $ m/\sec $ on a circular path of radius 500 m. it’s speed is increasing at the rate of $ 2m/{{\sec }^{2}}, $ What is the acceleration of the car [MP PMT 2003; Roorkee 1982; RPET 1996; MH CET 2002]

Options:

A) $ 2m/{{\sec }^{2}} $

B)$ 2.7m/{{\sec }^{2}} $

C) $ 1.8m/{{\sec }^{2}} $

D)$ 9.8m/{{\sec }^{2}} $

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: B

Solution:

Net acceleration in nonuniform circular motion, a$ =\sqrt{a _{t}^{2}+a _{c}^{2}} $

$ =\sqrt{{{(2)}^{2}}+{{( \frac{900}{500} )}^{2}}}=2.7m/s^{2} $

$ a _{t}= $ tangential acceleration $ a _{c}= $ centripetal acceleration $ =\frac{v^{2}}{r} $
