Kinematics Question 578

Question: The velocity of projection of a body is increased by 2%. Other factors remaining unchanged, what will be the percentage change in the maximum height attained?

Options:

A) 1%

B)2%

C) 4%

D)8%

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: C

Solution:

[c] We know that, $ {{\text{y}} _{\text{m}}}=\text{H=}\frac{{{( \text{u sin}\theta)}^{2}}}{2\text{g}} $

$ =\frac{u^{2}\text{si}{{n^{2}}\theta }}{2\text{g}} $

$ \therefore \frac{\Delta \text{H}}{\text{H}}=\frac{2\Delta \text{u}}{\text{u}}.\text{ Given }\frac{\Delta \text{u}}{\text{u}}=2% $

$ \therefore \frac{\Delta \text{H}}{\text{H}}=2\times 2=4% $
