Physics Elasticity Question 16
Question: If the volume of the given mass of a gas is increased four times, the temperature is raised from 27°C to 127°C. The elasticity will become
Options:
A) 4 times
B) 1/4 times
C) 3 times
D) 1/3 times
Show Answer
Answer:
Correct Answer: D
Solution:
From the ideal gas equation $ \frac{P _{1}V _{1}}{T _{1}}=\frac{P _{2}V _{2}}{T _{2}} $
$ \frac{E _{2}}{E _{1}}=\frac{P _{2}}{P _{1}}=\frac{V _{1}}{V _{2}}\times \frac{T _{2}}{T _{1}}=\left( \frac{1}{4} \right)\times \left( \frac{400}{300} \right)=\frac{1}{3} $
Therefore $ E _{2}=\frac{E _{1}}{3} $ i.e. elasticity will become $ \frac{1}{3} $ times.
