Transmission Of Heat Question 246

Question: If the temperature of the body is increased by 10%, the percentage increase in the emitted radiation will be

[RPMT 2001, 02]

Options:

A) 46%

B) 40%

C) 30%

D) 80%

Show Answer

Answer:

Correct Answer: A

Solution:

$ Q\propto T^{4} $

Therefore $ \frac{Q _{1}}{Q _{2}}={{( \frac{T _{1}}{T _{2}} )}^{4}} $ If $ T _{1}=T $ then $ T _{2}=T+\frac{10}{100}T=1.1T $

Therefore $ \frac{Q _{1}}{Q _{2}}={{( \frac{T}{1.1T} )}^{4}} $

Therefore $ Q _{2}=1.46,Q _{1} $

Therefore % increase in energy $ =\frac{Q _{2}-Q _{1}}{Q _{1}}\times 100=46% $
