Vectors Question 71

Question: Assertion : The scalar product of two vectors can be zero. Reason : If two vectors are perpendicular to each other, their scalar product will be zero.

Options:

A) If both assertion and reason are true and the reason is the correct explanation of the assertion.

B) If both assertion and reason are true but reason is not the correct explanation of the assertion.

C) If assertion is true but reason is false.

D) If the assertion and reason both are false.

Answer:

Correct Answer: A

Solution:

If q be the angle between two vectors $ \vec{A} $ and $ \vec{B} $ , then their scalar product, $ \vec{A}.\vec{B}=AB\cos \theta $ If $ \theta =90{}^\circ $ then $ \vec{A}.\vec{B}=0 $ i.e. if $ \vec{A} $ and $ \vec{B} $ are perpendicular to each other then their scalar product will be zero.
