JEE Main 2016 Exam Analysis (Online)- Students Found The Online Mode Comfortable
The JEE Main online test, a computer-based examination, took place on the 9th and 10th of April. Over a hundred thousand students participated in the online JEE Main Exam. The exam was conducted in more than 2000 centers throughout India and overseas. The results are anticipated to be released on the 27th of April 2016. The cut-off for JEE Advanced will also be announced on the same day, based on the JEE Main results. The JEE Main score is crucial for gaining admission to four-year science and engineering degree programs at institutions like NITs, IIITs, and other national level colleges in India, along with the class XII score.
Many examinees reported that the quality of the paper was as expected. The difficulty level varied from subject to subject and also from the pen & paper test (conducted on 3rd April). In the pen & paper test, Maths was the easiest, Chemistry had a mix of easy and difficult questions, and Physics had easy to moderate questions. However, students who took the online test found Chemistry questions manageable, while Maths questions were slightly challenging. The overall difficulty level was moderate. Some students even reported that the online test provided them with more preparation time, greater flexibility to navigate through the questions, and improved time management. As a result, they did not encounter any unexpected challenges.
It was noted that a significant number of questions in the online mode were similar to those in previous year’s exams. The paper consisted of objective type multiple choice questions from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, each subject having 30 questions. Each question carried equal weightage with four marks for the correct answer and a negative marking of 0.25% (one mark) for an incorrect answer. The paper was primarily based on the CBSE syllabus of Class XI and XII, but the questions were conceptual and required analytical skills.
