Step 1: Register for NEET counselling

Candidates who have qualified and are eligible must register on the mcc.nic.in NEET UG 2023 website. They will need to provide their NEET roll number, registration number, name, mother’s name, and date of birth. Following this, they must pay the NEET counselling fee and security fee online using a credit or debit card.

The fees are as follows:

15% AIQ/ Central Universities SC/ST/OBC/PwD Rs. 500 Rs. 5,000
Deemed Universities All Categories Rs. 5,000 Rs. 2,00,000
Step 2: Choice filling for NEET counselling

For the NEET counselling process, applicants are advised to create a mock sheet and list their preferred colleges. They can utilize the NEET college predictor tool to estimate their chances of admission based on historical data. This list will be used for the NEET counselling process in 2023.

Here’s how to fill out your choices for NEET UG counselling in 2023:

  1. Log into the counselling website with your registration details.
  2. Navigate to the choice filling section.
  3. Look through the list of colleges and courses available.
  4. Choose and rank your preferred options.
  5. Save and lock in your choices before the deadline.
  6. Print a copy of your choices for future reference.
Step 3: NEET UG Seat Allotment

In the third step of the process, candidates should log in and download their seat allotment letters as soon as they are available. The first round offers a free exit option, while the second round provides a forfeiture exit option.

Step 4: Checking in at the assigned college Once a candidate has been allocated a seat, they must visit the assigned college to finalize the admission process. It’s not compulsory to join during the first round. Candidates who wish to secure a seat or upgrade must report and join. After the seat allocation in the second round, candidates must report and join, unless they choose to opt out and lose their security deposit. Candidates must bring the original documents when reporting to the assigned college.

NEET counselling 2023 - What does free exit mean? What is exit with forfeiture?

Free Exit (applicable only for round 1) - If a candidate who has been allocated a seat in the first round does not report/join the assigned college, they won’t be penalized (their security deposit will not be forfeited). Such candidates will be eligible for subsequent rounds.

Exit with forfeiture - If a candidate is allocated a seat in the second round but decides not to take it, they can opt for exit with forfeiture (losing the security deposit) within the specified period.

Candidates who join the allocated seat in the second round will not be allowed to resign/surrender their seats and will also be ineligible to participate in state counselling. The NEET UG 2023 counselling process has introduced several new changes. One of the significant changes is that candidates must be cautious when deciding to participate in the 3rd Rounds of AIQ/Deemed/Central Universities. Once they join this round, they cannot resign or participate in any further counselling. If a seat is allocated to a candidate in either AIQ or Deemed/Central Universities, they will be removed from the All India Stray Vacancy Round list.

Another change is that OCI cardholders will now have the same eligibility rights as Indian citizens for NEET UG 2023 counselling conducted by MCC.

The second round of NEET Counselling requires fresh registration for those who didn’t register in the first round or who weren’t allotted any seats. Candidates who moved to the second round must physically report to their assigned college and can opt to upgrade to the third round.

Candidates who fail to report to the institute allocated in the second round of NEET counselling will lose their security deposit. Those who have been upgraded will not have any claim on their first-round seat.

Fresh registration for NEET counselling 2023 is mandatory for the third round for candidates who haven’t registered in the first or second rounds or have resigned/not reported in those rounds.

Once a candidate joins the second round seat, they can express their desire to upgrade to the third round. However, if they decide to join and then resign, their security deposit will be forfeited.

If a candidate is upgraded to the third round, they must leave the second round seat of NEET UG 2023 counselling and join the third round seat. Once joined, they cannot upgrade or resign from this seat.

If a candidate is allocated a seat in the third round but does not join, they may exit the NEET counselling with fee forfeiture and won’t be able to participate in any further rounds.

If a candidate is allocated a seat in the Stray round, they must join the allocated seat/college; otherwise, they will be barred from the NEET UG exam for the next year, along with forfeiture of fees.

The NEET UG counselling 2023 for Deemed/Central Universities/Central Institutes involves several steps, including registration for the mop-up round, filling and locking your choices, mop-up round seat allocation, publication of results, reporting to the chosen Medical/Dental College, providing a list of ten times of registered candidates for stray vacancies to Deemed/Central Universities, and conducting the last stray vacancy round by Deemed/Central Universities.

The NEET UG counselling 2023 scheme for 15% AIQ will be conducted by the MCC in four rounds: AIQ Round 1, AIQ Round 2, AIQ Mop-up round, and stray vacancy round. Candidates who qualify as part of the All India Quota will be eligible based on their NEET results 2023, excluding the Union Territory of J&K. If seats remain vacant after the second round of NEET counselling 2023 in AIQ, they will be returned to the states. The NEET counselling AIQ for 2023 will encompass the following: 15% of MBBS/BDS seats from all states, all MBBS/BDS seats from BHU, all MBBS seats from AIIMS throughout India, the All India Quota from JIPMER (Puducherry/ Karaikal), All India Quota seats from AMU/ DU/ VMMC/ ABVIMS, All India Quota Seats from the Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Milia Islamia), and All India Quota Seats from ESIC.

AIIMS and JIPMER will have 100% Deemed University. There will be four counselling rounds: Round 1, Round 2 of AIQ, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The first three rounds will be conducted online by MCC, while the Stray Vacancy round will be conducted by the respective Deemed Universities.

For the 18 AIIMS, there will also be four counselling rounds: Round 1, Round 2 of AIQ, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The first three rounds will be conducted online by MCC, while the Stray Vacancy round will be conducted by AIIMS. ESIC will also follow the same process. The allocation of ESIC seats will be as follows: 15% will be assigned through the All India Quota (AIQ) during the first and second rounds. The remaining 85% will be considered as state quota seats and will be available to all candidates in the Mop-up Round.

For the Central University/Institute, there will be four stages of NEET 2023 counselling, namely Round 1, Round 2 of AIQ, Mop-Up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The first three rounds will be managed online by the MCC. The Stray Vacancy round will be overseen by the respective Central University/Institute.

The seat matrix for the MCC NEET counselling 2023 will be released by the DHGS on behalf of the MCC for the first round of NEET counselling 2023. The seat matrices for MBBS, BDS, and AIQ seats in Central University, Deemed University, and those provided by ESIC institutes will be announced separately.

The NEET 2023 counselling process will determine admissions to MBBS/BDS courses under AIQ, deemed universities, and ESIC/AFMS colleges in India, based on the NEET 2023 results. To be eligible for these medical courses, candidates must qualify the NEET exam. The NTA NEET counselling process is divided into two categories: All India and State counselling.

The NEET UG counselling includes the following categories of seats:

  1. All India Quota seats through MCC counselling process: The AIQ NEET 2023 counselling process is the exclusive method for admission to 15% of seats in all government medical and dental colleges, all seats in deemed and central universities, and all seats in the Employeesโ€™ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and the Armed force medical college, including Delhi University (DU), BHU, AMU, and AIIMS & JIPMER. From NEET counselling 2023 onwards, candidates from Jammu & Kashmir are included in the 15 percent All India Quota seats counselling process.

  2. State Quota seats for NEET counselling: The state NEET counselling 2023 will handle admissions to 85% of seats from government colleges and all seats from private unaided/aided minority/non-minority medical/dental colleges in the state.

For the NEET 2023 - State quota counselling, state authorities will fill 85% of the remaining seats in government medical colleges and 100% of the seats in state medical colleges. The NEET counselling process will differ from state to state. The state rules for state NEET counselling will govern admissions to MBBS in government colleges and private medical colleges.
