Placement Statistics
The official placement statistics for the years 2021–2022 have been given on the website. The placement statistics for the years 2022–2023 have not been updated on the website, but the average package for the CSE branch has been between 14 and 16 lpa, and that for ECE is 13–14 lpa. Talking about the internships, there is a mandatory 6-month internship for everyone, and many of them get converted into PPOs. As far as the average placement goes, Batch 2021 had 8.44 and Batch 2022 had 12.04; the numbers show drastic growth. With the institute operating at full capacity on their new permanent campus, the placement numbers are expected to grow even further.
The major companies that visited the campus for the placements are Amazon, AlphaFold, Groww, NVIDIA, Samsung, and many others. The percentage of students placed is also great, more than 96%, so if you are an above-average student here, there is a high chance for you to secure a more than 12 LPA job through maintaining your consistency.
Courses Offered and Their Curriculum
Till 2022, we used to have only two branches consisting of Computer Science (CSE) and Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE). But from batch 2022-2023, four more specialized branches have been added to the curriculum, apart from CSE core and ECE core. These are
I. CSA (Computer Science with Specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning) This branch focuses on the new and growing technology, i.e., artificial intelligence and machine learning, which have a large scope in the tech market, and the curriculum of this course has been designed based on the skillset required for the AI jobs in the market. The curriculum is available on the website.
II. CSD (Computer Science with Specialization in Data Science) This branch has been added to keep up with the growth of data engineering and data scientist jobs in the IT market. The course structure of this branch has been specially designed to be inclined towards statistics, mathematical probabilities, and algorithms, with teaching about the various tools to clean and analyze the data.
III. CSH (computer science with a specialization in human-computer interaction and gaming technology)
Even though there isn’t much hype about the game development jobs in India but still it is a growing work field. This branch’s course curriculum is inclined towards the physics of the games and how the games and prototypes are developed.
IV. ECE-IOT (Electronics and Communication Engineering with a Specialization in the Internet of Things) Now this is the most interesting branch.
Ece Iot : Pros And Cons
IOT is a field in which you can automate things and do hands on projects. remote controlled things, voice assistants etc. everything falls under IoT In curriculum initially you will be studying about Sensors, Actuators & different development boards like Arduino Uno, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and different platforms like Arduino IDE, Adafruit, Blynk IoT
In future semesters you will be learning about IOT security and networks and connectivity and more developement boards and sensors and so on.
Pros:
- New curriculum
- Better exposure from the first year itself. We all are making projects every two weeks as of now.
- Less theoretical on and onwards.
- Placement wise you can be inclined to any side since you may be allowed to sit in
- 1 Core Cse Side Placement
- 2 Core Ece Side Placement
- 3 Iot Specific Placements
Consensus
- The curriculum is new, so it’s experimental for students.
- There’s a smaller alumni base specific to each branch (for us, maybe one or two are from core ECE by the 3rd year).
- Placement records are not available because it’s the first batch.
Core ECE vs IoT
- IoT gives you hands-on project experience and a specific direction.
- In the 2nd year, there will be fewer electronics subjects (only the important ones).
- Studying 4 out of 6 electronics subjects in Core can be overwhelming without interest.
- Core ECE gives you broad exposure to everything, and then you can decide your specialty.
- But IoT provides detailed insight into IoT.
- IoT is recommended for specific applications.
Infrastructure
- The college was established in 2016, at that time the seniors used to have their classes in a BSNL building, but now the infrastructure has been far more developed.
- Now, everything has changed. The institution weathered the pandemic and developed a grandiose 110-acre campus with almost all essential facilities constructed. 4 buildings have been created ie Academic Block, Admin Block, Residential Block, and Hostel.
- The new hostels will be constructed this year
- The college has a pretty beautiful campus and is also better than the other IIITs in the range of IIIT Nagpur.
Educational Facilities
- The college is relatively new, so the classrooms are in good condition.
- Labs for almost every department are equipped with proper PCs to run programs smoothly.
- Electronic labs are well-equipped with up-to-date equipment and tools.
- Weekly tutorials are held to strengthen the application concepts of the subjects.
Libraries
- The college has a physical library with professor-recommended books for the courses and a separate reading room in the academic block.
- An e-library with a larger collection of books is also available and can be accessed from anywhere.
Coding Culture
- The coding culture is well-developed, with a coding club, Dotslash, and a tech club, GDSC (Google Development Students Club).
- Students are self-reliant; many started competitive programming one week after classes started.
- Most students are 2-star coders on CodeChef, with 15-16 students having a 3-star rating.
Professors
- The quality of professors is subjective and depends on the student’s interest in the subject being taught.
- Generally, all the faculties are specialized in one or other field and provide in-depth knowledge about their subjects.
- However, some professors just come, read PPT, take attendance, and leave.
Academic Pressure and Free Time for Extracurriculars
- The curriculum at IIIT is different from other colleges; it’s revised every year and is practical.
- You can complete your 4th-year subjects and exams in the 3rd year itself by taking electives.
- There’s plenty of free time after classes, which can be spent on skills and socializing with friends.
Campus Life
- The campus is spread over 100 acres, making it the second biggest in Nagpur.
- It has a big ground, spacious classroom complex, modern hostels, and an amphitheater.
- The campus is well-connected to Nagpur city via a city bus that visits the campus seven times a day.
Hostel
- Students live in a hostel with rooms equipped with a desk and a chair for each person.
- Rooms are either 2-seater or 4-seater (on a first-come-first-serve basis).
- The hostel has a working mess, LAN connections in every room, and Wi-Fi routers installed in the corridors.
Sports Activities
- The college provides almost all sports facilities with proper sports equipment.
- The cricket ground is under development; for now, a plain patch of land is assigned for it.
- The 5th floor of the hostel has a gym for boys and a separate gym for girls on their floor. The gym is well-equipped with a couple of barbells, bench press, squat stand, cable machine, treadmill, and plenty of weights.
Clubs
The college hosts various clubs for different fields:
- Dotslash: For coding-related activities.
- Crescendo: For music and musical instruments-related activities.
- Orator Club: For debating and public speaking activities.
- Estoria Club: For dramatics.
- GDSC (Google Development Student Club): For tech-related activities.
