Lc Oscillations

LC Oscillations

LC circuit: An electrical circuit consisting of an inductor and a capacitor connected in series or parallel.

Inductance: The property of a circuit that opposes changes in current flow, measured in henries (H).

Capacitance: The ability of a circuit to store electrical energy in an electric field, measured in farads (F).

Resonance: The condition in an LC circuit where the inductive and capacitive reactances are equal, resulting in maximum energy transfer between the inductor and capacitor.

Natural frequency: The frequency at which an LC circuit oscillates when there is no resistance or other energy loss.

Quality factor: A measure of the efficiency of an LC circuit, determined by the ratio of stored energy to energy lost per cycle.

Damped oscillations: Oscillations that gradually decrease in amplitude over time due to energy loss.

Energy conservation: The total energy in an LC circuit remains constant, although it is constantly transferred between the inductor and capacitor.

Phase difference: The difference in phase between the voltage and current in an LC circuit, which is determined by the circuit’s inductance and capacitance.
