Question:

Explain the structure and functions of the different types of joints in the human body.

Answer:

Joints are classified into fibrous, cartilaginous, and synovial types. Fibrous joints, like skull sutures, are immovable and hold bones tightly together. Cartilaginous joints, such as intervertebral discs, allow limited movement and absorb shock. Synovial joints, like those in the hips and knees, are highly mobile and facilitate a wide range of movements. They also help absorb shock and distribute loads during movement.
