Answer:

Oxidative phosphorylation is a metabolic process that occurs in the mitochondria of eukaryotic cells. It is the final and most energy-efficient part of cellular respiration. The process involves the synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of the cell, from adenosine diphosphate (ADP) and inorganic phosphate (Pi). This process is driven by the flow of electrons through the electron transport chain and the subsequent transfer of protons (H+) across the mitochondrial membrane.
