Answer:

Photosynthetic pigments are substances that have an ability to absorb light, at specific wavelengths. Chlorophyll a is the major pigment involved in photosynthesis. This pigment show maximum absorption in the red and blue region of the visible spectrum, thus the rate of photosynthesis is higher in the red and blue region of the spectrum of light.
