How does the energy transfer occur within the Light Harvesting Complex?

Answer:

In the Light Harvesting Complex, energy transfer occurs through a process known as resonance energy transfer. When a pigment molecule within the complex absorbs light, it becomes excited and transfers its energy to a neighboring pigment molecule. This transfer continues until the energy reaches the reaction center of a photosystem, where it initiates the photosynthetic electron transport chain. This efficient energy transfer allows plants to maximize the use of available light for photosynthesis.
