Problem 11 : Discuss the concept of bond energy and how it relates to the strength of chemical bonds. Calculate the bond energy of a diatomic molecule.
Solution :

Bond energy is the energy required to break a chemical bond. It is the reverse of bond formation energy. The bond energy of a diatomic molecule can be determined experimentally. For example, the bond energy of an H₂ molecule is the energy needed to break the H-H bond.
