Exemplar Problems
Problem 26 : Discuss the concept of bond length and how it varies between different types of bonds (e.g., single, double, triple). Provide examples of molecules with different bond lengths.
Solution :
Bond length is the average distance between bonded atoms. Single bonds are longer than double or triple bonds due to differences in bond strength. For example, in CO₂, the C=O double bond is shorter than the C-O single bond.
