Magnetics Ques 2

Assertion and Reason

Mark your answer as

(a) If Statement I is true, Statement II is true; Statement II is the correct explanation for Statement I

(b) If Statement I is true, Statement II is true; Statement II is not a correct explanation for Statement $I$

(c) If Statement I is true; Statement II is false

(d) If Statement I is false; Statement II is true

  1. Statement I The sensitivity of a moving coil galvanometer is increased by placing a suitable magnetic material as a core outside the coil.

Soft iron has a high magnetic permeability and can be easily magnetised and demagnetised.

Answer:

Correct Answer: 2.( c )

Solution:

  1. $c \theta=B I N A \Rightarrow \theta=\left(\frac{B N A}{c}\right) I$

Using iron core, value of magnetic field increases. So, deflection increases for same current. Hence, sensitivity increases.

Soft iron can be easily magnetised or demagnetised.
