Classification Of Elements And Periodicity In Properties Question 13
Question 13 - 2024 (30 Jan Shift 2)
Given below are two statements: One is labelled as Assertion A and the other is labelled as Reason R.
Assertion A: $H _2$ Te is more acidic than $H _2 S$.
Reason R: Bond dissociation enthalpy of $H _2 Te$ is lower than $H _2 S$.
In the light of the above statements. Choose the most appropriate from the options given below.
(1) Both $A$ and $R$ are true but $R$ is NOT the correct explanation of $A$.
(2) Both $A$ and $R$ are true and $R$ is the correct explanation of $A$.
(3) $A$ is false but $R$ is true.
(4) $A$ is true but $R$ is false.
Show Answer
Answer (2)
Solution
Due to lower Bond dissociation enthalpy of $H _2 Te$ it ionizes to give $H^{+}$ more easily than $H _2 S$.
