Question 13
If for two sets $A$ and $B, n(A)=m$ and $n(B)=n$ and (Number of subsets of $A$ - Number of subsets of $B$ ) $=56$, then find value of $(2 m+n)$.
Show Answer
Answer: (15)
Solution:
$n(A)=m$, then number of subsets of $A=2^{m}$
$n(B)=n$, then number of subsets of $B=2^{n}$
given that
$2^{m}-2^{n}=56$
$2^{m}-2^{n}=2^{6}-2^{3}$
From here, $m=6$
$n=3$
$2 m+n=2 \times 6+3=15$
