JEE PYQ: Alcohols Phenols And Ethers Question 16
Question 16 - 2020 (04 Sep Shift 1)
An organic compound (A) (molecular formula $\text{C}6\text{H}{12}\text{O}_2$) was hydrolysed with dil. $\text{H}_2\text{SO}_4$ to give a carboxylic acid (B) and an alcohol (C). ‘C’ gives white turbidity immediately when treated with anhydrous $\text{ZnCl}_2$ and conc. HCl. The organic compound (A) is:
(1) [Structure: $\text{CH}_3\text{COOCH}_2\text{CH}_2\text{CH}_3$ (propyl acetate)]
(2) [Structure: $\text{CH}_3\text{CH}_2\text{COOCH}(\text{CH}_3)_2$ (isopropyl propanoate)]
(3) $\text{CH}_3\text{COOC}(\text{CH}_3)_3$
(4) $\text{CH}_3\text{CH}_2\text{CH}_2\text{COOCH}_2\text{CH}_3$
