JEE PYQ: Chemical Equilibrium Question 11

Question 11 - 2021 (26 Feb Shift 2)

The average S$-$F bond energy in $\text{kJmol}^{-1}$ of $\text{SF}_6$ is ____ (Rounded off to the nearest integer)

[Given: The values of standard enthalpy of formation of $\text{SF}_6(g)$, $\text{S}(g)$ and $\text{F}(g)$ are $-1100$, $275$ and $80 \text{ kJ mol}^{-1}$ respectively.]

Show Answer

Answer: 309

Solution

$6 \times E_{\text{S-F}} = 275 + 480 + 1100 = 1855$; $E_{\text{S-F}} = 309$ kJ/mol.
