JEE PYQ: Chemical Equilibrium Question 29
Question 29 - 2019 (12 Jan Shift 2)
In a chemical reaction, $\text{A} + 2\text{B} \xrightleftharpoons{K} 2\text{C} + \text{D}$, the initial concentration of B was 1.5 times of A, but the equilibrium concentrations of A and B were found to be equal. The equilibrium constant (K) is:
(1) 4 (2) 16 (3) $\frac{1}{4}$ (4) 1
Show Answer
Answer: (1) 4
Solution
Let [A]$_0$ = 2, [B]$_0$ = 3. At equilibrium: $2-x = 3-2x \Rightarrow x=1$. $K = \frac{4 \times 1}{1 \times 1} = 4$.
