JEE PYQ: Chemical Kinetics Question 30

Question 30 - 2019 (10 Apr Shift 1)

The given plots represent the variation of the concentration of a reactant R with time for two different reactions (i) and (ii). The respective orders of the reactions are:

[Plot (i): $\ln[\text{R}]$ vs time is linear with negative slope. Plot (ii): $[\text{R}]$ vs time is linear with negative slope]

(1) 1, 0

(2) 1, 1

(3) 0, 1

(4) 0, 2

Show Answer

Answer: (1)

Solution

In graph (i), $\ln[\text{Reactant}]$ vs time is linear with positive intercept and negative slope. Hence it is 1st order. In graph (ii), $[\text{Reactant}]$ vs time is linear with positive intercept and negative slope. Hence, it is zero order.
