The major product of the following reaction is:

$\text{H}_3\text{C}-\text{C}(\text{CH}_2\text{CH}_3)(\text{COOCH}_2\text{CH}_3)(-\text{Cl}) \xrightarrow{\text{NaOEt}/\Delta}$

(1) $\text{CH}_3\text{CH}_2\text{C}=\text{CH}_2$ with $\text{CO}_2\text{CH}_2\text{CH}_3$

(2) $\text{CO}_2\text{CH}_2\text{CH}_3$ substituted product with $\text{CH}_3=\text{CHCH}_3$

(3) $\text{OCH}_2\text{CH}_3$ substituted product with $\text{COOCH}_2\text{CH}_3$

(4) Different stereochemistry product

Solution

Heating of the given compound in presence of strong base is favoured for elimination reaction resulting in more stable alkene. Saytzeff product is formed.
