On heating compound (A) gives a gas (B) which is a constituent of air. This gas when treated with $\text{H}_2$ in the presence of a catalyst gives another gas (C) which is basic in nature. (A) should not be:

(2) $\text{Pb(NO}_3\text{)}_2$
(3) $(\text{NH}_4)_2\text{Cr}_2\text{O}_7$

Solution
$\text{Cu}^{2+}$ ions get precipitated very quickly due to low $K_{sp}$ value even at very low concentration of $\text{S}^{2-}$ ion.
