JEE PYQ: Solutions And Colligative Properties Question 29

Question 29 - 2019 (09 Apr Shift 1)

The osmotic pressure of a dilute solution of ionic compound XY in water is four times that of 0.01 M $\text{BaCl}_2$. The concentration of XY (in mol L$^{-1}$) is:

(1). ($4 \times 10^{-2}$)

(2). ($6 \times 10^{-2}$)

(3). ($4 \times 10^{-4}$)

(4). ($16 \times 10^{-4}$)

Show Answer

Answer: (2)

Solution

$2[XY] = 4 \times 0.01 \times 3$. $[XY] = 0.06 = 6 \times 10^{-2}$ mol/L.
