JEE PYQ: States Of Matter Question 6

Question 6 - 2021 (25 Feb Shift 1)

A car tyre is filled with nitrogen gas at 35 psi at $27^\circ\text{C}$. It will burst if pressure exceeds 40 psi. The temperature in $^\circ\text{C}$ at which the car tyre will burst is ____ (Rounded-off to the nearest integer)

Show Answer

Answer: 70

Solution

$\frac{P_1}{T_1} = \frac{P_2}{T_2}$; $T_2 = \frac{40 \times 300}{35} = 342.86$ K $= 69.85^\circ\text{C} \approx 70^\circ\text{C}$.
