JEE PYQ: States Of Matter Question 7

Question 7 - 2021 (26 Feb Shift 1)

(0). (12 g of oxygen is adsorbed on 1.2 g of platinum metal. The volume of oxygen adsorbed per gram of the adsorbent at 1 atm and 300 K is ____ [$R = 0.0821$ L atm $\text{K}^{-1} \text{mol}^{-1}$])

Show Answer

Answer: 2

Solution

Moles of $\text{O}_2 = \frac{0.12}{32} = 0.00375$. Volume $= 0.00375 \times 0.0821 \times 300 = 2.4$ L. Per gram of Pt $= \frac{2.4}{1.2} = 2$.
