JEE PYQ: Binomial Theorem Question 37

Question 37 - 2019 (08 Apr Shift 2)

If the fourth term in the binomial expansion of $\left(\frac{1}{\sqrt[x]{1+\log_{10} x}} + x^{1/12}\right)^6$ is equal to 200, and $x > 1$, then the value of $x$ is:

(1) 100 (2) 10 (3) $10^3$ (4) $10^4$

Show Answer

Answer: (2)

Solution

Let $t = \log_{10} x$. Solving $t^2 + 4t - t - 4 = 0$: $t = 1$, $x = 10$.
