JEE PYQ: Functions Question 25
Question 25 - 2019 (09 Apr Shift 1)
If the function $f : \mathbb{R} - {1, -1} \to A$ defined by $f(x) = \frac{x^2}{1-x^2}$ is surjective, then $A$ is equal to:
(1) $\mathbb{R} - {-1}$
(2) $[0, \infty)$
(3) $\mathbb{R} - [-1, 0)$
(4) $\mathbb{R} - (-1, 0)$
Type: MCQ
Show Answer
Answer: (3) $\mathbb{R} - [-1, 0)$
Solution
$f(x)$ is even, $f(0) = 0$, $\lim_{x \to \pm 1} f(x) = -1$
Set $A = \mathbb{R} - [-1, 0)$
