JEE PYQ: Capacitance Question 32

Question 32 - 2019 (12 Apr Shift 2)

In the given circuit, the charge on 4 $\mu$F capacitor will be:

(Circuit: 4 $\mu$F, 5 $\mu$F and 3 $\mu$F capacitors with 1 $\mu$F, connected to 10 V)

(1) 5.4 $\mu$C

(2) 9.6 $\mu$C

(3) 13.4 $\mu$C

(4) 24 $\mu$C

Show Answer

Answer: (4)

Solution

$V_1 + V_2 = 10$. And $4V_1 = 6V_2$. Solving: $V_1 = 6$ V. Charge on 4 $\mu$F: $q = CV_1 = 4 \times 6 = 24,\mu$C.
