JEE PYQ: Current Electricity Question 2

Question 2 - 2021 (16 Mar 2021 Shift 1)

In the figure given, the electric current flowing through the $5,\text{k}\Omega$ resistor is ‘x’ mA.

[Circuit: $3,\text{k}\Omega$ in series with parallel combination of $5,\text{k}\Omega$ and $3,\text{k}\Omega$, connected to 21 V source with $1,\text{k}\Omega$ internal resistance]

The value of $x$ to the nearest integer is ____.

Show Answer

Answer: 3

Solution

The $3,\text{k}\Omega$ and ($5,\text{k}\Omega | 3,\text{k}\Omega$) simplifies. Equivalent circuit gives $I = \frac{21}{5+1+1} = 3$ mA. Current through $5,\text{k}\Omega$ is 3 mA.
