JEE PYQ: Current Electricity Question 59

Question 59 - 2019 (10 Jan 2019 Shift 1)

A uniform metallic wire has a resistance of $18,\Omega$ and is bent into an equilateral triangle. Then, the resistance between any two vertices of the triangle is:

(1) $4,\Omega$

(2) $8,\Omega$

(3) $12$ W

(4) $2$ W

Show Answer

Answer: (1)

Solution

Each side = $6,\Omega$. Between two vertices: one side ($6,\Omega$) in parallel with other two sides in series ($12,\Omega$). $R_{\text{eq}} = \frac{6 \times 12}{6 + 12} = 4,\Omega$.
