JEE PYQ: Magnetic Effects Of Current Question 42

Question 42 - 2019 (09 Jan 2019 Shift 1)

A current loop, having two circular arcs joined by two radial lines is shown in the figure. It carries a current of $10$ A. The magnetic field at point O will be close to:

(1) $1.0 \times 10^{-7}$ T

(2) $1.5 \times 10^{-7}$ T

(3) $1.5 \times 10^{-5}$ T

(4) $1.0 \times 10^{-5}$ T

Show Answer

Answer: (4) $1.0 \times 10^{-5}$ T

Solution

$B = \frac{\mu_0(\pi/4) \times 10}{4\pi}\left(\frac{1}{3 \times 10^{-2}} - \frac{1}{5 \times 10^{-2}}\right) \approx 1.0 \times 10^{-5}$ T.
