JEE PYQ: Magnetism And Matter Question 22

Question 22 - 2019 (12 Jan 2019 Shift 1)

A paramagnetic material has $10^{28}$ atoms/m$^3$. Its magnetic susceptibility at temperature $350$ K is $2.8 \times 10^{-4}$. Its susceptibility at $300$ K is:

(1) $3.267 \times 10^{-4}$

(2) $3.672 \times 10^{-4}$

(3) $3.726 \times 10^{-4}$

(4) $2.672 \times 10^{-4}$

Show Answer

Answer: (1) $3.267 \times 10^{-4}$

Solution

By Curie’s law: $\frac{\chi_1}{\chi_2} = \frac{T_2}{T_1}$, so $\chi_2 = \frac{2.8 \times 350 \times 10^{-4}}{300} = 3.267 \times 10^{-4}$
