A soft ferromagnetic material is placed in an external magnetic field. The magnetic domains:
(1) decrease in size and changes orientation.
(2) may increase or decrease in size and change its orientation.
(3) increase in size but no change in orientation.
(4) have no relation with external magnetic field.

Answer: (2) may increase or decrease in size and change its orientation.
Solution
When magnetic field is applied, domains aligned in the direction of the field grow in size and those aligned opposite reduce in size and also change orientation.
