Take the breakdown voltage of the zener diode used in the given circuit as 6 V. For the input voltage shown in figure below, the time variation of the output voltage is:

Solution

Two zener diodes in reverse polarity clip the output at $\pm 6$ V. When $V < 6$ V output follows input; when $V > 6$ V output is constant at 6 V. This matches graph (3).
