JEE PYQ: Semiconductors Question 3

Question 3 - 2021 (18 Mar 2021 Shift 1)

An npn transistor operates as a common emitter amplifier with a power gain of $10^6$. The input circuit resistance is $100\ \Omega$ and the output load resistance is $10\ \text{k}\Omega$. The common emitter current gain ‘$\beta$’ will be ______ (Round off to the Nearest Integer)

Show Answer

Answer: 100

Solution

$10^6 = \beta^2 \times R_o/R_i = \beta^2 \times 10^4/10^2$. So $\beta^2 = 10^4$, $\beta = 100$.
