A common emitter amplifier circuit, built using an npn transistor, is shown. Its dc current gain is 250, $R_C = 1\ \text{k}\Omega$ and $V_{CC} = 10$ V. What is the minimum base current for $V_{CE}$ to reach saturation?

Solution
$V_B/R_B = V_{CC}/(\beta \cdot R_C) = 10/(250 \times 10^3) = 1/(25 \times 10^3) = 40\ \mu$A.
