(a) Collagen is the most abundant protein in animal world. Collagen is the major insoluble fibrous protein found in the extracellular matrix and in connective tissue. RuBisCO is the most abundant protein in the whole of the Biosphere. The most common mutations are substitutions of glycine residues, which are crucial to formation and function of the collagen triple helix, by larger amino acids.
