(a) Copper sulphate on treatment with excess of $KCN$ forms complex $K_3[Cu(CN)_4]$ or $[Cu(CN)_4]^{3-}$

$CuSO_4+2 KCN \longrightarrow Cu(CN)_2+K_2 SO_4$

$2 Cu(CN)_2 \longrightarrow Cu_2(CN)_2+(CN)_2$

$Cu_2(CN)_2+3 KCN \longrightarrow K_3[Cu(CN)_4]+CuCN$
