Motion In A Plane Ques 50

50. Two particles of mass $M$ and $m$ are moving in a circle of radii $R$ and $r$. If their time-periods are same, what will be the ratio of their linear velocities?

[2001]

(a) $M R: m r$

(b) $M: m$

(c) $R: r$

(d) $1: 1$

Show Answer

Solution:

  1. (c) Linear velocity $v=r \omega$

$v_1=\omega r_1, v_2=\omega r_2$

[ $\omega$ is same in both cases because time period is same]

$\frac{v_1}{v_2}=\frac{r_1}{r_2}=\frac{R}{r}$
