$\mathrm{CH}_3 \mathrm{CHO}$ gives lodoform test but $\mathrm{C}_6 \mathrm{H}_5 \mathrm{CH}_2 \mathrm{CHO}$ does not give lodoform test due to absence of methyl group in the alpha position.
